I'd rather spend a little more and buy from a sponcer here, like J/K or something. ............ thinking about it, that's exactly what I've done. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

The thing with ebay is that the seller can also be the buyer. Since the purchaser's User ID is kept private, I bet this is what happened.

Well the "WHAT A DEAL" turned out to be WHAT A HOAX!!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif

After paying for the auction using paypal and american express (to cover my a$$) I have tried to contact this person and having not received product and contacting ebay and paypal have filed a fraud report against this person.

Just so you know, this person is supposedly a member here and his ebay name is "smokey_burn_out".... All his auctions are private bidder listed and he will not respond to all emails sent. When he does he lies and says what you want to hear. Do not purchase from him and if you have an encounter with him report it to Ebay, Paypal and anyone else you know purchasing items from ebay. His paypal company is for a business in Miami and he is using 2 different names, one for selling on ebay and one for his paypal account. This person is a liar and a thief.......

This was my own fault and those deals that are too good to be true usually are. I thought that this person being a member here would keep something like this from happening. Just do yourself a favor and buyer beware..... Please tell anyone you know....

McRat

Sorry to hear that. It's hard to trust Ebay due to the anonymous nature of it.

For what it's worth, I've sold and bought about $50,000 worth of stuff on Ebay with only minor problems. Highest was 17K.

Tips:

Get a WORK phone number and talk to the guy. Give him yours. Jobs are harder to get than cellphones.

If something is "too good to be true", WATCH OUT. It probably is.

Never send money to an anonymous target. Paypal, PO boxes, etc, need to be backed up with solid contact info. Never send a money order or cashier's check.

Ya I used paypal and Amex, so I am covered. I got a number and it was to an answering machine. Guy has no concept of answering emails and when he does, they contradict the ones prior. I hate dealing with scum like this. I know they are out there and I somehow seem to find them...

Not so much the zero feedback, but I think that little yellow dude next to the zeromeans he recently changed his ebay handle. That to me is always a telltale. Why would someone change their handle on ebay if they already had a good rep?

Post everything you can! Run to the other sites and fill them in as well. I know several folks that have been hooked...... they all got their money back.........it just took time and effort. Ebay seems to be a good thing. I don't know how much I've spent total, wife uses my account, but I've busted the 18k single purchase mark without a problem. It's not the venue, it the vendor.

ok. i am from bully dog. i want you all to know what is being done. first of all we do have a MAP(minimum advertised price) policy. if anyone is selling below this level i would be very leary and run away. the policy states nobody can advertise at more than 10% below retail list. ebay pricing is considered advertising, either the buy it now or the reserve must be at least that price. secondly those that abuse this will be getting zapped off of ebay in the near future, if the practice continues bully dog will pull it's trademark off of ebay completely. and everybody loses. if you see anyone advertising below MAP either on ebay or on any web site, or paper ads please email info@bullydog.com. i appreciate all of you, thx. steve

Well just an update as to what is going on here.

I contacted Ebay and Paypal. They were able to recover $12.85 of my money at this time. I was thinking I would get more but they said that was all that was in the account of the seller. I have contacted American Express and they are going to cover the charge and fight it out with Ebay/Paypal on my behalf. So in the long run I will be covered but Ebay/Paypal will not be happy about it because they will not get their money unless they collect from the fraudulent seller...

The sellers are Arthur Fenring and Michael Aviles and Aaron Wilkenson. So beware of those sellers on ebay. They use many different accounts and are located in Miami and other lower Florida cities. They use the company name of J C B Halifax in Miami...

Well now the FBI and American Express are involved completely. I talked to the FBI and they are going after this, so they say and we keep me posted as to the outcome. American Express is filing criminal charges and will also let me know the outcome. I am not being charged any money for this and the money that was collected will be credited to my account... Simple, eBay doen't give a crap about any thing but Money. Don't
ever buy on eBay without a Credit Card. I almost got screwed big
time when I bought something that didn't work. eBay and Pay Pal did
nothing...Visa put a hold on the charge for 30 days giving the
dirtbag time to refund my money. When it didn't happen, they
credited my account and went after him.
I've also been screwed as a seller. A guy won an auction of mine and
never even contaced me,. I still had to pay the listing fees and they
did nothing, nothing but make money that is.

hoot

First off never buy from someone with no history. The chance s of a
good deal come from people with at least a few good feedbacks.

I purchased a train horn from a zero feedback individual a couple of weeks ago.

When I won I emailed and told them I would only pay for shipping. Once
I recieved the item I would pay the balance. I have 59 transactions and
she had none. She agreed. The balance was $251. I recieved the horn. It
was junk. Manifold was cracked and the horns were not correct for the
model. I emailed and offered to send them back for $50 (my shipping and
to ship back) I also offered as an alternative to pay $100. She took
the $100. I got a good deal. (It's an old horn)

You just have to be wise.
