: Post Injectore Replacement Question
Tel9000 09-25-2004, 09:56 PM I got my truck back from the dealer after having all the injectors replaced under the GM extended warranty. The truck has never run better. But, I have been noticing an uneven "rolling" idle. As the idle rolls, my oil pressure guage flickers with it. What do I need to do to address this?
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gifthis is possibly a regulator concern on the high pressure pump which engine is in it
socaldieseltech 09-25-2004, 10:13 PM Bring it back and have them re-check it. Could need a regulator, like gord said.
Tel9000 09-25-2004, 11:09 PM This has the 6.6 Duramax engine. I will take it back to the dealer to look at it. Thanks.
Max Owner 09-25-2004, 11:13 PM LB7 or LLY engine. 01 to 04 had the LB7. 04.5 Has the LLY engine.
Tel9000 09-25-2004, 11:31 PM 2001 LB7 CrewCab Long bed with 100,000 miles and 6in Superlift. 8 new injectors (I will add that the truck sat at dealership for 6 weeks). I can't seem to stop complaining about that.
1BADDMAX 09-26-2004, 09:39 AM I took my truck in on July 2nd @ 81,797 miles. Right now the truck stands at nearly 85k (heading back to NC tomorrow from Arkansas). By time I get home I'll have 4k on the new injectors and no problems. I still have the irratic idle (started about 30k, damn FPR), but I'll bring that up at my free oil change and see if I can get them to wiave the $100 deductible since it was in the shop for 52 days. Should of had them replace it then!
Diesel Dually 09-26-2004, 02:43 PM I had the FPR replaced first when the #5 injector said buh bye. Since they lied about when my truck was going to get fixed...(thats right I said lied)...they refunded my $100 deductible and the insane $100 they charged to do my fuel filter.
Truck runs great! Although, I am due for a new Fuel Filter, I think I will be handeling this one myself. http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Shocked.gif
Tel9000 10-05-2004, 09:11 AM I put in Winter Treat 2000 fuel additive and the rolling idle problem stopped. Why would that be?
dmaxalliTech 10-05-2004, 10:23 AM if the regulator was at fault, it could have free'd it up some. I would discontinue running the additive and let the dealer fix it. Dont want to mask over the problem that can be fixed.

I noticed the same thing when I put in Stanadyne or Rotella DFA. I wounder what it's doing. I add it to the tank once a month and the problem has yet to come back.
blizzardplowman 10-05-2004, 10:56 PM Hey Eric, your pm box is full and I need some info.
GrubMax 10-08-2004, 12:15 PM I too have had all 8 injectors replaced.Dealer did not nail me with the $100.00 deductable.Dealer did give me a loaner.Dealer did the job in 3 days.Dealer changed oil and filter at no charge.
OF COURSE--the DEALER did ALL OF THIS after i emailed about 20 GM EXECS,and sent a letter to everyone i could find an address for at GM.I did this the same day the dealer told me that there was a 4-6 week wait for injectors. If you are having problems at the dealer level--PUT THE PRESSURE ON THEM.
Now to get back on topic-my truck has been running like new since the injectors were replaced.Someone had suggested i change the oil after 600-800 miles to get the crap out of the engine that the replacement operation would have caused.WOW,what good advise.I drained the oil after 1000 miles and could not believe the crap and FINE METAL BITS AND FILINGS that came out.I just hope there is not damage done.

What is it about the injector replacement that would cause metal bits and flings to get in? I know that the valve covers are off, so if things aren't very clean it will end up down in the pan, but metal filings? Where do they come from?
burntb4 10-08-2004, 01:41 PM I don't know and i am not very knowledgable about the inner workings of an engine.Possibly damage done while running with the fuel in crankcase.Maybe someone with some tech knowledge can jump in later and offer some possible scenarios.I just hope it is not severe damage that will cause probs.later cuz as i said the truck is running great right now.I kept the oil i drained out that was full of fuel and i still have the oil i just drained out with 1000 miles on it.Don't know if that would do me any good if i get into a p---n contest with the dealer
