Well, here is my first visit... I need help and some opinions.
I have been looking for a new truck for about 6 months. I have owned (and still own) Ford trucks ('02 F24 4x4 Lariat, '06 Cutaway E450 - complete custom body, '03 Ford Van, etc.). However, I have been coverted by a friend to join the GM truck crowd (I did buy my wife an '06 GMC Suburban Denali last year). Notwithstanding, I will be ordering a new '07 LMM Duramax next week. Here is where I need help:
1. Does a lift (of any size) void any waranties; which lift maintains the closest ot factory settings? I am looking for a 4" lift with 35's (I also own a '78 Landcruiser custom fabbed with 3 link suspension for rock crawling - ergo, I like my vehicls heavily modified).

2. Do induction (like a Banks), chips or Cat back systes affect warranties?

3. What aftermarket power options work best with the Duramax?

4. If I put 20" wheels and 35" tires on the truck (with a 4" lift), will I need to trim the front fender wells?

5. I tow a 10,000lb toy hauler up the Cahon Pass (a long, steep grade in So. Cal.). What should I be careful of and what is the break-in time before towing?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the crowd...You wont regret it.

Some chips or programmers do effect warranties, but it depends on the particular dealer. Some sell intakes, exhausts and programmers.

Lots of people run exhausts and intakes have no problems. Dont expect any gain with an intake though as the stock system flows well enough to support around 500 h.p.

There are also lots of good power packages that tuners offer. Banks, Edge, PPE are the big ones along with EFI if you're into custom tuning. Lots of people also run hand held programmers like Hypertech, Superchips or Predator. Most of these tuners offer enough tire shredding power to fry any stock tranny with abuse. The type of tune depends on you, how much power you want, how much you're willing to spend on h.p. and how long you expect your tranny to last.

There is no real break in period anymore. There are lots of guys who hook 10,000 lbs to the hitch leaving the dealers lot. It all depends on you and how you drive. Opinions will greately vary on this.

Take a few minutes and browse through the forum if you havent already. Each section offers countless of threads that you can find all your answers in. Take a note at the "stickys" at the top of each section. Also take a look at the threads that are already in each section. The chances are that your question has been answered 10 fold in each and every section that interests you.

Feel free to ask questions as we're here to help you.

Cahon Pass? Isn't there a famous rail line that goes up there and down the other side of the Sierra Nevadas?

Thanks guys! As you can see, I have a long road ahead of me as far as learning and applying upgrades.
Oh yeah, I think there is a railroad line - I have yet to see the train just yet.

So today I was faced with a critical decision: the dealer offered me an '06 classic at 0% financing for 5 years and 6k less (due to the particulate filter) (43k plus tax, lic, doc). All else is equal to the '07 he has (at 49k plus ... and 7.9% financing for 5 years.
Is there that much of a difference in years for 6k plus interest. I must admit, I am not to fond of the body shape of the bed (fender area) on the '07; however the front end looks beefier than an '06.
Any opinions?

I'd take the '06.
