Your best bet is to get a manual, that way you have the info right at hand :p:

Step-by-step, huh?

step 1] Take truck to mechanic.
step 2] Give mechanic money
step 3] Leave.
step 4] Return to pick up truck when fixed.

Howzzat?

Sorry - couldn't help myself.

I agree with Bison ... get thee a manual with pictures - Chilton's, Haynes, etc.

You'll need it for something else, sooner or later, and it's a LOT cheaper than the aforementioned mechanic.

I used alldatadiy.com and would not recomend it. I bought the Haynes manual after the fact and wished it had it.

You will basically be stripping every componenent from the top and front of your engine except the fuel injection pump and re-installing it after you get the heads back on and torqued. Organization will be you best friend. Keep all the parts layed out in order of removal and bag/tag all the nuts and bolts. Take lots of notes and pictures as you progress. Make a list of "while you are in there might as well fix..." so you can have the parts ready to replace as you go.

Good luck.

www.helminc.com for new factory manual, may be out of your year find next closest model year to yours, so next best bet is ebay or one of the on line book stores for used issue someone is parting with. Haynes & Chilton are better than nothing but not much IMO. Mechanically 6.5 is pretty much same all years 1st 6.5s had mechanical IPs vs electronic, in 96 OBD-II came out with different PCM functions, in 97 H/O waterpump & dual thermostats came out
