ok guys, Last fall I had an issue with my filter assembly which was replaced by the dealer. (read here is you wish)

This weekend was time for an OEM fuel and Nicktane filter change and when I get under the hood to change the OEM, I see that the dealer did not hookup my WIF wire  or my other wire  which is connected to the top of the assembly (black and red wires). I have had no codes or issues since this work was done by the dealer. I hooked up my WIF wires but can't hookup the other harness becasue the connectors are not compatible.
Two questions:
1. What are the black/red wires??
2. Does it hurt running with the WIF and/or the other black/red wire unhooked?
thanks.
