so it finally got mildly chilly here..ie freezing temps overnight...next morning truck cranked for the longest I have ever heard...probably an honest 3-4 seconds straight before it started...is this friggin normal..I can't even imagine what will happen when the temp is zero. Apparently my balance rates are kosher...

What grade of oil are you using? What are the battery conditions like. If they are the stock batteries there have been a few people here that have had bad batteries and had them replaced under warrenty.
I don't think at those temps that summer fuel would be problem, but somthing to keep in mind when it gets colder.

I use rotella oil like I always have...my guess is the batteries, I
I'll prolly toss ina set of badass ones if this continues.

I run synthetic oil and wait for the glowplugs, until it gets down to 10 degrees or so, I don't notice much difference in cold starts. I do use additive in every tank though. Below 10 degrees, it takes a bit longer and rattles like a cummins for the first 10-20 seconds of running.

The only time mine has bee slow starting is when it got below 20 below 0. And then it started pretty quick just took a while to smooth out.

when it does start it runs smooth like normal..just cranks for a second..like the fuel pressure bled off or something

Perhaps your glow plugs aren't working properly. Even at -20 my LB7 didn't really crank over any longer.

My LB7 starts fine in below 0 weather. I had slow starts with my power stroke, needed glow plugs. There is a temp sensor for the engine. Possibly not telling that it is cold outside...

the glowplug light stays on longer so me thinks the sensor is working fine..the plugs not working right would cause it to run rough, I really think this might be a fuel issue or an altitude plus temp issue.
