replacing your 1st clutch sucks!!! got the tranny loose, bellhousing, t-case, both driveshafts, exhaust, but didnt think about the damn parking brake cable. had it all set to go, pulled everything back and started lowering the drivetrain, then it got caught up in the cable and would go anywhere!

well, new clutch assembly is installed but i have a problem. the tranny refuses to go back on the jack so it can be lifted up. and when i have gotten it up it refuses to slide in far enough to even engage the splines. any ideas?

your sure you got the alignment right on it? did you use the plastic alignment tool or something else?
you might also try to turn the rear output shaft while trying to get it back together.

i used the alignment tool. problem is (well now i cant lift the tranny up to put it back on the jack) i had it up high enough and the input shaft started going through the throwout bearing, then absolutely refused to go any further. tried turning the tranny's output shaft (i removed the t-case), no binding there.

might try putting the bellhousing on the trans first if you think the throw-out bearing is messin you up.
and get tough, you can pick it up high enough to get a jack under it or set it on the jack surely!

ya i can pick up one end easily enough, just complaining to complain :D
tomorro my friend is bringing over his engine lift, gonna try that instead (will allow more movement compared to the floor jack i'm using on a dirt driveway).

ITS ALIVE!!!!! and since i havent fixed the exhaust y pipe yet its very loud (think i woke up the neighbors :D). that was the most stubborn tranny i've ever had to install!
motor mounts are fine, must have broken the cap/rotor when i was removing the tranny and the engine tilted back pretty far.
