Been searching and reading thru these threads and still have a few questions about them.
Have a deposit on a 07 chevy kodiak. Has the 6spd trans and newer model motor? Its a cc 4x4 monroe conversin with pickup bed. air seats and spring suspension.
1 how do the springs ride on the road/highway? dealer here has air rears and hauler bed to test in 2wd
2 What programmer is there to help wake it but not hurt it seams people are happy with the PPE and edge?
3 what will this truck weigh in at asked the sales rep but they are reading a sticker real number roughly?
4 Are you guys happy with them over a 3500?
5 What rpms are you running with this set up at say 70-75?
Thanks John

It rides like a truck. Close to an empty 3500. Tapered springs, air bags, or all cab make it pretty civil though.

I run an edge just because its easy and a clean install.

Not sure on a 07 but depending on fuel, and other variables I would guess 1200ish
4 Are you guys happy with them over a 3500?
IMHO if a 3500 will do what you need it to get the 3500. If a 1500 SRW would do what I needed I would buy that.

Really depends on gears. With 4.88 and 275 tires I pull ~ 2500rpm at cruise.

My "Ole Bumpy" is the 4 x 2 '06 with the same springs and air seats. It is ROUGH on rough roads(Like Oklahoma roads). Rides good on good roads. I wish I had the air suspension on rear and Cab, but too many dollars.
I never pull over 60 mph and get about 10 mpg loaded and 12 solo. It has the 456 gears and at 60 I am turning around 2000 rpm.
Needs more power in hills.
It works ok till the Dodge 4500 and 5500 get the bugs worked out. Owned 2 Cummins previously and miss them.

J V...Do you have a programmer on your 06? I have an Edge unit on my 04 and it made a world of difference. I pull a 18K+ 5'er. Set the cruise at 65 and forget it. Set the Edge unit on level 2 for towing and get 10mpg. Hardly ever downshifts for hills. Easy install. John

I am on the road a bunch and its getting hard to find "good" roads. My opinion would be that air suspension is a must, cab air would be great. I have test driven a few and ride quality and performance have just always made me back off the idea.

Try one with tapered springs. Min rides way softer than a 3500 with the tapered spring option. Add on the air cab and its a pretty good ride. Obviously on things like grated roads and speed bumps it still rides like a truck though.

What are tapered springs? Would these be front? I have not found one to drive with air seat, air rear susp, and air cab. For me the 4500 would be for personal use not commercial, I'll keep my 3500 for that.

Same Q tapered springs? This will be for personal use just like the larger room and ability to tow a little extra My dually is at the limit when hooked up and I prefer a safety margin with the bigger rig is why asking. Thanks for the replys as well so far.
