project 6.2L

I have a 93 F250 7.3L N/A Diesel and it constantly had a whiteish haze exhaust lately. I have advanced the injection pump about 4 degrees/1mm yesterday. You advance the pump the same as a chevy diesel right? Towards the drivers side since it is also a DB2 injection pump? But the problem, if I timed it right, is that the smoke got a tiny bit worse and it doesn't run as smooth or put out any black smoke under heavy load/acceleration like it useto. To me it sounds like I retarded the timing instead of advancing. And also the injector pump has been acting up for about a year but getting worse. When I get the RPM over 2500 or stand on it then shift, the engine gets a loud powerstroke diesel sound, no power and engine will idle down and stall even if i stand on it again. When I blip the throttle a couple times, before it stalls, then every thing is back to normal. Any ideas or suggestions on why this is happening? Any help is greatly apreciated. Thanks.
P.S. Don't let the name fool you I am also a big fan of Ford Diesels http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif not just Chevy Diesels!
