Hey all,

Like a good poster I did a search first and didn't find what I was looking for.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Here's the deal! For about the last 2 months, I have been noticing that my brake pedal goes mushy right before the truck stops, say at about 3-5 mph. Almost feels as if the ABS is kicking in, but not hearing the normal ABS hum. And...it only does this during light braking. I have checked to see if the condition existed during a rapid stop, and it doesn't.

Any idea's?

Thanks in advance!!!

Is it when you are turning the steering wheel at the same time?

Dennis,

Not really! I've heard the boost pump hum when turning and braking, but that hasn't seemed to cause the brake to fade the way it does when pulling up to a light like I described above.

The really bad thing about the condition I'm experiencing, is I've come very close to rear ending other vehicles stopped in front of me. I've begun to stop sooner now!

Oh Yeah!

I forgot to add for those that might try to give me a diagnoses, I have stock tires and wheels that have been rotated every 10K miles. The truck currently has just under 31K on it.

Thanks all!

Wow...if no one has an answer on here, I'm really going to be bummed taking it to the dealer because they won't have a clue!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

BTW...I'm only kidding about the dealer! I've got one of the best!Edited by: CrazyDaze

It is most likely activating ABS. What happens is the wheel speed sensors get rust and debris on them and drop out too soon. This can be confirmed with a Tech 2 while watching the speed sensor data. All sensors should drop speed evenly to 3mph, then go to zero. The repair is to clean off the sensors.

Kewl...Thanks Eric! I have to make an appointment to get some work done. That will help me confirm what they do to fix it!

I sure do appreciate the response!!!
