I would suggest a laptop card. Sprint is what I have in my truck, works very good. Use with an external antenna and you will be ok. Speed is faster than dial-up so that is all that matters to me and you can still pick up wifi where available.

I use a Verizon card, works pretty good. Heck I am rolling down the road @71mph in Indiana right now:D.

i have thought about the mobil card, but i have cingular cell phone and there plans don't seem to be as good as the others but i don't have a voice plan with theothers so i think they are more expensive that way. and i can't get rid of cingular, i have had cingular for close to a decade and they are good at resolving any problems that comes up fast for me.

I have a cingular 8525 cell phone with 3G internet capabilty. Its awesome and runs quick on the net. Plus its WiFi available.

I used my phone as a modem before I went with a card, but with verizon that only works in the actual "verizon cells". The card will log onto any system and work. Plus using the phone as a modem I could not talk and surf:p:.

have you successfully tethered your 8525 to a laptop??? i have an 8125 and it won't work tethered.

it really depends on the phone.. i don't want to take this thread way off topic but if you start a new thread about how to use your particular phone hopefully someone can help.

I personally havnt done it. I know that the 8125 isnt 3G tho. From the intstructions ive read, teathering it should be easy. 3G is pretty darn quick for a phone. I love mine.
