Anyone have one? Are they worth it? Folks claim it adds maybe .5mpg, but throttle response is suppose to be far better and maybe, just maybe throw a few more ft/lbs on?

I have heard and read mixed reviews but generally it seems to help some. It only works with TBI and requires "tweaking" the fuel lines on a GM truck.

Here is a link for one on eBay.

Looks to me that it just bolts up to the intake and the TB bolts right to it.

What do you think?

Okay, that is not a TBI spacer, it is a Air Valve spacer (no fuel is injected there). Not sure if they are even worth the effort with a muiltpoint injection system on vortec engines. They seem help TBI units on older engines as they tend to enhance fuel mixing and flow a bit but Vortec design and induction is different so gains would be questionable. It looks like a bolt on though. If you decide to try it, post the results you see.

I use to have one of these on my 6.0L Truck... Made no difference other than a cool whistle. Did nothing for mpg or trq numbers at all.. Don't waste your money...Edited by: GMC2500HD

What GMC2500HD said. Got one, wasted my money.

I am not surprized but I had not first hand "data" about their use with a Vortec Engine. As I said earlier any gain would be doubtfull. They are probaly trying to ride on the coat tails of the ones for TBI units that did yield some gains.

Thanks all. I apprec it! It sounds like one of those Tornado type devices which we all know to be B.S. too. Thanks again!

As a side note, if you have not installed a custom tune on your gas truck, that is a option to consider. I am running a Hyper Tech one that I got on Ebay for about 1/3 the normal price and it has made a difference in day to day operation and added some power too.

Not a bad idea. I was thinking about using PCMforless to do some powertuning and misc stuff. I've used them on my Impala SS and was quite pleased. I believe they also do trucks as well.

I have never used it. I paid $125 for mine and it also allows for tires size and axle ratio changes and it does not marry itself to VIN number so you can resell it when you do not use it any more. Hypertech is not the best out there but you can get them cheap and play around with them. I am using the premium tune with stock 190 stat but I am using 160 degree stat programing and have had no problems at all or even a hint of pinging at any time.

I had an Hypertech for my Impala SS. I wasn't overly impressed with any SOP differences from stock. When I had my SS re-programmed with pcmforless, there was a very noticable difference from stock or my HPP+. When I did my OBD1 conversion, there again was the pcmforless programming and an even better SOP feel.

I may start to look into it. Thanks for reminding me. :)

No problem, like I said they (Hypertech) are not the greatest for sure but they are "flexible" and easy to use and you can get them cheap on Ebay and resell them if you move one to something else.
