I have my stock wheels sitting around and was thinking of putting some "street" tires on them for the drag strip. What are you guys running for tires at the strip?

Another thing, would it be better to run a 245 or 265? I cant drop my torsion bars as much as I would like with my current rim/tire setup. I think I will have to shift into 6th at the strip to cross the line so my thinking is a 245 would help my bottom end performance out.

The weight reduction would also be a helpful factor.

Well the best thing that you could do would be find a drag radial if your wanting the best traction possible. If your looking at running a straight street tire I would look for one that is a softer compund rubber, higher speed rated tires are usually softer. Looks into Kuhmo or Falken, I found that they both hooked up really well on my Trans Am.

As for 245 or 265 go 265, its going to give you a larger contact patch which means more traction. The tires height isnt going to change enough that you will ever be able to tell it. Same goes for the weight... Your talkin about a very miniscule amount of weight, you could better help yourself by going in on a nearly empty tank of fuel or taking the spare tire off. 100lbs = .10 of a second on the strip is what the accepted rule of thumb is.
