Hello all, (not sure where to post this)

My Spring Break trip yielded these numbers:

Total miles to & from (including around town) - 2100
Total gallons - 122
Overall average MPG (according to DIC) 17.2
Going down highway speeds 65-70 (cruisecontrol sometimes)
Payload - 3 adults 455 lbs.
2 kids 110 lbs.
4 bicycles on the hitch carrier (about 150 lbs ?)
cargo - 2 sets of golf clubs, luggage, bike trailer, totes of food, linens, beach stuff, etc.... (you know the stuff)
lets say about - 600 lbs ?
Total weight ------------- 1315 lbs. +/-

As most of you know the 2500HD crew cab weighs about 6600 lbs.

Fuel prices averaged about $2.85 between north & south, cheapest I paid was $2.67 in M.B.
Well thats' about it for this trip. Next trip might be without the bikes and other stuff we overpacked for !
:)

Seems to me you got good milage considering you included all city driving. You most likely got much better milage if you hand calculated just the highway milage and i would recomend using the cruise as often as possible.

Dang, you had 5 people including 2 kids in there and nobody got killed? When I was still living up in NY my family made the mistake of taking our Ext. Cab Silverado to M.B. Me and my 2 brothers fought the whole time. After that they bought the Tahoe with 3 rows of seats to split us all up.

That mileage is good considering the weight and city driving. My gasser only gets 16.5 mpg empty:( .

I got little less than you did doing IL to Orlando, FL for spring break, I was in the low 16's, but I ran much of the trip hammer down and on the way back traffic sucked. But for me 2 adults and 2 kids was more than enough in the truck for me!
