my trannys been shiftin real hard, especially the upshifts on 1-2 and 2-3 until the tranny gets to around 180 degrees. today it damn near broke the tires loose when shiftin up from 2-3 on wet pavement with little throttle input. this is recent problem that seems to be getting worse. i purchased the truck with 40k on it, im at about 50k now, the dealer said they changed all the fluids, however iv been meaning to change the tranny fluid here shortly as it's gettin smelly(i dont think the stealer changed it personaly) any ideas? would burnt fluid cause this?

if the fluid is burnt, I would look carefully for a reason why. If you have hard shifts, perhaps its trying to compensate for something...
Its possible that the clutches could be getting glazed over and it is bumping clutch pressure to hold them tighter...
Also if your changing levels with the OJ, it could get a firmer shift when backin the power down after running it high.
An easy thing to do that may help some is to have the adapts reset for the shifts in question and see if the shift quality comes back in a few days...

I noticed that the shifts got very firm on mine and started looking for a reason.......filter needed to be changed. The filter starts to restrict flow and the TCM tries to compensate......the result being kidney busting shifts 1-2 and 2-3 and no holding power in 3 and 5.
I'm no tech.......but I had this problem myself.....you'd be suprised how much the ally changes when you give it a clean filter.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif

I have found that , driving before the juice is on, causes a hard shift. The juice requires less throttle angle, so when its off you have to apply more throttle angle. that tells the alli that you are applying alot more power, because its adjusted to runnin with the juice on. That is my theory anyhow, take it with a grain of salt. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

changed out the fluid and filter a week ago, still got a hell of an upshift from 1-2. truck is goin in to the shop on tuesday for a fresh steering box, im gonna have them do a reflash on the computer also id like to have them reset the shift adapts..... is this common practice or am i gonna have to explain it to em? im assuiming its done with a tech2 or something similar?

Those running the Juice will experience harder than normal cold shifts do to the Transmission is anticipating more torque, adaptive learn. The Edge doesn't start delivering more power until the motor sees some predetermined warmth.
They all do it! As far as reseting taps Cells just tell them your having some Quirky shifts but then you will have some lazy shifts until the increased Torque is managed again.
I have tendency to believe that the ECM/TCM does this regardless, is temperature sensitive as with the TTS ECM/Suncoast V, I have some cold shifts that are abrupt to say the least.
