I'm interested in honest rear wheel horsepower that it takes to push my 6500 lb truck through the 1/8th mile at 82 mph. The formulas I find on the subject are suspect. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif They seem to give me more horspower than people say I could have.

(I ask this question several months ago for a little slower time and got various replys.)

The formula I know of says 559 at the fly wheel. But I wouldn't rely on any of those formulas because there are too many variables.

Maybe someone who has dynoed there truck and runs close to the same numbers you do can tell you how much hp they have.

My guess would be around 450 at the wheels.

My 6 speed truck ran 82 to 83 mph depending on how well I shifted at 480rwhp on a dynojet. It weighed 6700lbs.

1BAD01, 550 hp range is the number the formulas I have give but I thought that was to the rear wheels. I don't believe that I am near that. C pac's number in the 480 rwhp range is probably accurate. Quad said he put more (hp) into his last update of the Quad Stealth 215 for me and then of course I should be getting something from the Attitude on 0. The Quad update actually gave me another 2mph.

Someday I will get to a dyno that works for me. However, I favor track results. One can have their more horspower, as long as I can beat them to the finish line. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Evil Smile.gif

Thanks for the replys,

The formulas don't account for the huge torque that the dmax makes.

That is the main variable.

"Thanks for turning lmy light bulb on"

TORQUE must be the factor clouding the Horsepower number. Sorta makes horspower less important than usual. Okay....... The heck with Hp.....I have TORQUE. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif (I have to go somewhere with this post)
