Howdy

Im looking for some info on oil life and biodiesel in the Dmax......

Ive seen some impressive analysis results with TDI;s being run on various levels of BD with very little oil soot contam compared to diesel fuel.

Has anyone run any tests?

I can tell a difference just by looking at the oil on the dstick, but Im looking for a bit more qualitative info..........

Im guessing that there is a significant difference between EGR and non EGR Dmaxes........maybe soot contam is not even an issue with non CA (no EGR) model LB7's?

I have never had any soot show on my oil analysis reports and my LB7 was an EGR....until it was recently disabled.

My latest mix is very high bio(B80 and above) with Schaeffers and the Amsoil full flow filter(I have the bypass but have not installed it yet) and the oil was not black...it was dark...but not the black I had seen before...at 8k miles.

My oil right now is still amber clear at 4k miles.

As mentioned by George Morrison...that Amsoil filter is pretty impressive...so the combination of Bio and that filter is keeping the oil looking very good...the analysis at 8k still showed at TBN of 10.

Good......From what I am seeing on the TDIclub.....if you run biodiesel you can really extend the life of the oil AND get a significant decrease in engine wear materials. Im too cheap to do my own analysis......

TBN of 10 at 8k....wow.....if you are running the Amsoil AME your TBN is 12 to begin with.......
