Getting ready to do my cognito braces ! And I don't know crap about suspensions but what I read on here !!

Checking things out today and jacked up the drivers side only and grabbed the front tire and jiggled it ! There is definately some forward and backward play in it (probably 1-1.5" of travel) ! I did not lift the tire up !!

My truck only has about 33k miles on it ...but 27k of that has been with the t-bars cranked and 285's on it !!

Should I try something else as far as testing the arms ?

Or from what I said above....do I need new OEM idler/pitman arms ?

What if I just go ahead and put the braces on ?

I would just get new OEM pitman/idler arms. May as well since your under there anyay. Otherwise you will have to remove the braces and re-install them when you eventually do replace the arms. I'm kicking myself now for not doing it when I installed the supports, oh well live and learn.

If cash is an issue, the braces alone will make a pretty big difference.

How hard of an install is replacing the arms ?? I thought I read somewhere that you need a specific puller for the pitman.........can you cheat with something esle or do you have to have an actual "pitman" puller ?

Does this stuff effect alignment ? I counted threads when doing my tr sleeves and everything was aligned fine when I was finished(took it and got it checked).........would this stuff work the same way ? Should I take some measurements or what ?

Sorry.......told you......I am pretty ignorant about suspensions......bad thing is I am willing to dig into it anyway !! :p: :D

The install is pretty easy. The pitman for me was the hardest and it does need a special puller. We ended up taking off the steering box to allow room to remove the pitman. I got mine aligned afterwards and there was practically no change.
