I changed my fluid yesterday. This web site was great. The change went well. One word of advice is that when you do it make sure you hear the audible clip for the circlip (when re-attaching the return cooler line. I did not have it there good and pumped out about 2 qts before I could figure out what was happening. Anyway, that was just a word of advice. The procedure did go well. Thanks to all

I used the Mobile I. I don't have that 100000 mile allyson warrenty. I have been using Mobile I products for years and believe they have kept me out of some hot water situations. The truck seemed to shift smoother after the change, but that could just be me. I bought the truck used a couple of months ago. Has 55000 miles and did not know when or if any of the fluids had been changed.
Looking at adding the additional fuel filter but have not decided which one. Kind of like Racor:

When at the Allison dealer to pick up a filter, the parts guy told me that an Allison dealer can sell an extended transmission warranty on the GM products with the Allison. He said Allison requires the transmission to be filled with TransSynd.
On edit 9/25/04: I called the Allison dealer to find out more details on the extended Allison warranty offering and the guy I talked to this time told me Allison does not sell an extended warranty for the GM trucks. This is exactly the opposite of what his fellow employee told me previously. Now I do not who is correct. However, I understand CBS has Dan Rather asssigned to find out the true story http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif. Edited by: BH in AZ

Last time I checked the powertrain warranty on my truck was 5yrs/100000miles

Like Eric said unless you bought an extended warranty we all have only 3/36 on the Allison.
We looked into a Allison extended warranty and they would not on the GM pick up last I heard.

I have read a number of the web sites and the use of Transynd. I believe from what I read and my owners manual that the Mobile I meets those criteria. I understand that the transmission is not included in the power train warrenty. I purchased my truck used and decided to purchase a "outside" warrenty, as I did not know the previous maintenace background. I paid $1600 for a 50000 mile 4 yr basically bumper to bumper warrenty. Includes the transmission and is $100 deductable. Hopefully I will not use it, but felt it was good Insurance. The dealer did offer the GM certified warrenty which included the trans., but it was more expensive.

If you look at the Allison website under FAQ for GM vehicles equipped with the Allison transmission, they specifically say the trucks are warrantied by GM, not Allison.
