I was wondering about the Transmission filters, on a couple I have purchased in the past (Baldwin, Wix)the holes are closer to the center than on the OEM and the magnet seems like it will restrict fluid flow. I have read where Baldwin engineers said that it was fine and would not hurt anything but nothing beats real world experience. I have changed my filter once before and had the same issue so I went and exchanged my 10.00 filter and went to GM and paid some outrageous amount of money for it. The time has come to change it again and I want to use the Baldwin, rumor has it that a new design is coming but that doesn't help me now since I already have one in hand. I imagine there is no real way to tell if it is hurting anything since it would be awfully hard to tell if the filter was filtering, after all most trannies have no spin on filter. I would prefer to have the GM replacement but not at 30 some dollars! If I don't get any real good answers I guess I'll try to take it back and find a local Alli dealer which I should have done in the first place.

There's lots of opinions going on about it. Since the nearest Allison dealer to me is still 30 miles away, I got my Allison filter from dmaxalliTech's online store. He's a supporting vendor and if you need any other filters or stuff for your truck, he's got some good prices and quick service:

I used the NAPA (wix) on my 01 GMC more than a year ago and noticed no problems. However, I have traded it since and didn't have a chance to check the filter on the next changehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif.

If any higher ups are watching can you please move this to the Allison forum, my mistake.

It appears the jury is still out on my question and it is exactly the type of discussion I was looking for. I realized I had made my post in the wrong forum when I read it. I don't think this thread needs to be in existance any longer since the other one has pictures and everythinghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
