As I am heavily annoyed by the ding ding ding the truck makes if doors are open, seatbelts are not fastened and whatever eles I searched about getting rid of it. A closed thread http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34300&highlight=disp says this will work with the disp button method. Guys, maybe I´m stupid but where is that button :wtf1:
My 2004 has the 6-disc indash bose system and there is no button with DISP on it...
Any help?

I believe you need to press and hold the 6 button... But it gets loud...

I just unplugged the seat belt buckle, pain in the a** when hooking up the trailer and having the chime go off every time the truck moves. But it is nice to know if one of the doors is ajar.

i believe you hold the tune button down it will eliminate the door chime

The DISP button is in the center of one of the knobs...might be the tuning knob.
This trick worked with my '03 (6-disc changer) but doesn't on my '06 (single disc). Both were Bose systems. Seems to be hit and miss with this easter egg.

I got use to mine when it goes off hooking trailor or not using it, but good idea to keep it since it does let you know about keys left in or door ajar.

thanks for the hints, will try that tomorrow... maybe it gets loud and its already in the night today...
to those that want the ding ding for door ajar or key, why? how to leve the keys inside when you need to lock the car with the remote? the door ajar is even displayed in the head unit, so why need the ding ding? just want to make shure I dont eliminate things needen
additional question, are the dings gone foreven if you eliminate it with any button technique? or is that only until you lock the car -:t

Can you just unplug the dinger module? I've done that on my 98 when I'm working on stuff.

That would be a nuisance. Yet another reason to hate engineers.

Packratt - Do you REALLY think that engineers put that in because they wanted to? The engineers put the defeat mechanisms in!!!
It's the lawyers and the beancounters you should be hating on!

I disconnected the seat belt dinger, I found it attached to the rear of the drivers side seat frame and just unplugged it. Have not worried to much about the door alarm I just pull the key out of the ignition a little.
