Here are some pics of my new 4" exhaust and 6"x24" tip exiting before the tire. You can now hear the turbo scream!

looks good! I would do that but the rocks on the back roads would chip it up like crazy.

That's awesome. So I take it you deleted the muffler/resonator? How loud is it dumping in front of the tire with the pass. window down? I was kinda thinking about doing the same thing on mine, but it is pretty throaty now not really loud.

Thanks for the replys. There is no cat or muffler on it and it is only really loud when you get on it. There is a drone all the time though, One cool thing is I can hear the turbo when the truck is idleing with both windows up which is sweet

Pipes look really good. You must live somewhere where they don't use salt on the roads? That is one helluva clean rig!

you are gonna turn your wheel black from exhaust soot with the pipe dumping out in front of the wheel......

I bet that exhaust sounds good!

But... I hate to rain on the parade.

Ditto the black soot comment.

Also, the added heat on the tire/wheel/lug nuts isn't such a good thing. Back in '97, Ford had the exhaust routed in front of the wheel on the F150. Later in that year, they issued a TSB related to the lug nuts and the added heat from the tailpipe. The constant heat would cause the lugs to loosen, and could result in a loss of vehicle control. I will look up the TSB this week. Ford did end up changing a lot of tailpipes.

So check the lugs every now and then, make sure everything is ok. Watch for sidewall cracking too. Be safe!

The only reason I had it put before the tire was because the 24" long tip would not fit right behind the tire. Anyway I like the look of having it before the tire its diffrent.

I always had my exhaust pipe exit before the tire but it had 3" pipe instead of 4" pipe and it also had the cat on there. The wheel never got that black. It would take a long time for the wheel to turn black.
