1995 truck with a 6.5 is not showing any boost when you get on a hill and need power and some times it will show up to 10 psi. Any clues on what might be the problem? I am thinking it may be the wastegate or some other turbo issue. It is not my truck I am just trying to help a friend out. any help would be appreciated.

check out sticky's at top of page for troubleshooting. might be something simple, have read where others have just thrown $$/parts to find out they wasted money instead of time to read and check.

Any noticeable smoke? If so, what colour?

The truck is it a 1500/2500/3500?

Typically low/no boost means black smoke. Could be vacuum pump or boost solenoid. Easiest fix for that is eliminate the vac pump by going to a mechanical wastegate, if it's a 2500/3500 (Non EGR). If it's a 1500 you'll still need the vac pump for the EGR stuff.

Give us a little more info on the truck and possibly go through the diagnostic check list at the top of the page. A little more info is going to be needed to help narrow things down.
