Hey all,
Looks like the Amsoil Torque drive does not meet the Dexron VI specs for our 2006 & up Allisons, but the Amsoil universal ATF does. Since I put the Torque drive in, I am going to have to switch to the universal ATF.
Which is the best way to get as much of the Torque out as possible, a flush? Some people say a flush is ok, others disagree.
From what I can tell, a flush would be the best way to ensure that as much Torque drive is replaced with ATF as possible.
Thanks

I've always flushed all my trannys, dropping the pan doesn't get anywhere near all the fluid out. The flushing machines replace the exact amount of fluid that came out with new fluid. It's the only way that I know of to get all the old fluid out.

i keep hearing that you aren't supposed to use a machine to flush the allison but i've never been told why (or don't remember  )
search for the 'hoot' method of tranny flushing.

I personnaly would run the torque drive before the universal. This may be andedotal(sp?) But I remember people that found the universal amsoil a bit more "slippery" and switched out with positive results for trasndyn. The toruque drive is supposed to be made as a replacement for transdyn? Who knows.....
If I were to drain her for something else and it was based on wanting to be official "dex 6" compliant.....I would go with something else. Also the allisons are using the same clutches and such as when it was ok to use dex 3. They havent changed anything in that regards.
If I were to flush my trans.....i would search the DIY section for an article written by mackin.

Thanks for the info.
Maybe I'll just stick with the Torque drive as I know allot of members on here are using it with their 06 Allison's. From what I know, the 06 Allison just added a gear and increased the diameter of the torque converter. Like Ratlover said, the clutches are the same so why would all of a sudden the Torque drive not be adequate??
As for changing fluid, all I did was 3 drains in a short period of time to try and get as much of the Dex out as possible and get as much Torque Drive in as possible. Maybe a machine flush is in order, I'll have to do more research on it.

Torque Drive in mine for 30,000 plus miles with no issues. I would leave it alone

I used the Amsoil Universal and was sorry I did. The torque converter immediately started a bit of a shudder when it applied. It may say it is good for allisons, but the Torque Drive works alot better. I would say just leave it alone.

I sent a message to the Amsoil Help desk and they recommened using their Universal Synthetic fluid for both the Allison and the 4L60E.
Did you have to change the fluid again after using the Amsoil Universal??? or did it work itself out??

This transmission fluid is causing me a headache, it seems like a crapshoot. Would the dealer even know what the fluid is if they have to crack the trans open?? The biggest headache is the warranty.
Has anyone used Torque Drive in the 4L60E/80E trans???
