How many Kilmeters, or Miles can you expect these engines to go/last?

If you maintain it, don't over heat it or dog it possibly 300,000 to 400,000 miles or more. I've met a 6.5L owner who was over 400,000 stock without much service.

I have 256,000 miles and i abuse mine but i have seen others with 150,000 blow up. luck I guess

Mine blew up at 173k, but I bought it with 142k on it from a construction company, so who knows what they did to it before I got it.

What does "blew up" mean. That could be just about anything. Could you guys be more specific?

By "blew up" I mean threw the #8 rod, turning it into a million pieces,
and throwing large chunks out of either side of the oil pan. The one
that got thrown out of the passenger side of the oil pan went through
the starter. Glad my hand wasn't there.



Loved my 6.5, if it hadn't blown up I would've kept the thing until at least 300k.

Did it seem OK when you bought it?
