My dealer was suppose to be ordering a new steering shaft for my pickup 2 weeks ago last fri(sept17) I stopped in a week later to see what was up, and they told me they were on backorder and were unsure of when they would be in....? Is this true or am i being ran around...

My dealer says he has several (including mine) on order. It's been almost two weeks so far.

I didn't want to deal with a day at the shop so I spent $14 and got the lube kit and lubed the shaft myself. 30 minutes later no more clunk/slop. Not sure how long it will last but should get me by for awhile. If it should happen again I'll let the dealer replace it.
Just had mine replaced with the "new and improved intermediate shaft" yesterday. All of that rattling sensation in the steering wheel is gone. Dealer ordered and recieved the part about 3 days later.
Previously I had the old one greased per the TSB but it only lasted about 1000 miles before the problem came back.Edited by: dndj

The dealer called yesterday and told me mine was in. It was replaced today and is better so far.

I stopped in yesterday and it was still on backorder....werent really sure when it might be in...im not upset, since its not a major issue, just a nusisance, but i made a point to make sure it was the "new &improved" one and not another clunker....hopefully soon...
