Yesterday I started my truck and when I depressed the throttle the RPMs dropped and the engine quit. So I restarted and as I depressed the throttle the same thing happend so I took my foot off for a while and eventually the engine accelerated just fine. I had the same thing happen several weeks ago.

The fuel filter was changed less than 5K miles ago.

Fuel pump, or electrical glitch?

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Strange...
I have had this happen twice.
Both times the engine has been warm, and both times recently restarted after sitting for ~20 minutes.

The behavior is that it will start & idle, but die immediatly upon applying any throttle at all. This is VERY annoying (read: dangerous!) when pulling out into traffic.

For me, it is not a persistant or common problem. The fact that it has happened more than once is of concern though. After stalling & restarting a few times, it starts to behave normally. This is not a problem with trapped air in the fuel filter; I'm quite familiar with that and this is different.

I'd like to hear other experiences with this, and solutions if any!

HBruns,

I think your problem maybe related to the Edge. I have had the same problems only since I installed my edge w/*** and on another post here I read and described all the simptoms and problems I had. If you would like search for my other posts and see if your truck has acted like mine.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Hope someone can figure it out.

I had the same problem this past weekend. After a 50 mile drive, get off highway then at the 4th light go to take off and it dies. Restart, put in gear, press accel. and dies again, then 2 more times.Has not happened before and hasnt happened since. 61,000 miles on truck now. The same juice (90hp) since 25,000 miles.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Engines are actually stalling? No go?

Something causing fuel to stop flowing......? Computer related.

I wonder if this is similar or the same problem I had a few weeks ago?

I had the same problem with my cummins and it turned out to be the extra fuel filter at my pusher pump that I added near the fuel tank.

Air, vacuum leak. This fuel system operates under a vacuum until fuel gets to the engine.

Sounds like more trucks are having the same problem i had. ran with a VDR for two months to figure it out. check the crankshaft reluctor wheel. the bolts loosen up and it throughs the timing so far off it shuts the fuel off. it puts the computer in defaut mode. after startin g a few times it resets and will run fine ..... for a while. To check the reluctor wheel remove the right front tire and splash shield. remove the crank trigger sensor and the crank trigger housing. you can now see the lower gear ans reluctor wheel. put a flat screw driver in one of the teeth on the reluctor wheel and pry it up or down. if it moves at all it needs replaced, along with the 3 bolts and they add 2 dowl pins that were not put in at the factory. hope this helps.

my first guess would be an air pocket. the next time it happens, crack the bleeder and see if any air is present..

I checked, no air at all. I believe it is something electrical. Mine would start right back up each time.

I have had problems with no starts and stalling too.(Always when the engine is warmed up.) I had Eric check it out and he said it was the Juice that was causing it. I pulled off the Juice and havn't had trouble since.
