I'm considering replacing my valve stem seals when i do the IP and injectors. Does anyone know of a tool that will screw into the glow plug hole or injector hole that will allow me to uase compressed air to hold
the valves up? I've searched around and didn't have any luck. Guess i
could "gut" an old glow plug & make one if needed. Thanks.

I know guys have fabbed up a tool for the injector hole to blow out stuck glow plugs. Do a search for "swollen tip" or "stuck glow plug" something like that and you should find a thread about it. I believe there is even a pic.

I also read recently that GPs are metric threads. If you could get a proper size metric fitting and then weld a quick connect on the end for the compressor. Maybe there is even a fitting available with the proper size male end for the GP hole and the proper size female for a quick connect hose fitting.

If i can't find a ready-made tool, i'll take make one. Take an old glow plug,
drill out the center & attach a hose & quick connect for my air compressor. Back "in the day" (early 70's) i made a couple of those for
odd cars i had. Thanks

Question of the day; Does a 6.5 have valve seals?
When I replaced valve springs, I observed no seals. BTW, when I replaced the springs I just turned the engine over so the piston was at TDC. Piston is very close to the valve at that point. No need for air pressure.
Hmmm, curious sort that I am, I went out to the garage and pulled an intake valve out of a head I got recently. There is a valve seal on the intake that I pulled.
I noticed a plastic ring on the valves on my original 94 heads that is not on the newer heads. Now I'm going to be curious when the old heads come off. Not soon, I hope. But anyway I will have the newer ones set up and ready for when that happens.

According to my FSM (Factory Service Manual) the Intakes have the standard O ring type seal between the valve stem and the retainer. The exhausts have that as well as an Umbrella seal that goes down over the valve guide as it sticks up under the valvespring. I looked at buying those last time i was at the auto parts, they list both for my '93. I've changed those before on another truck a few years ago, although it was a gasser.
Haven't taken a 6.5 apart (yet..), but i expect a similar setup. I'm getting a lot of smoke on startup after sitting overnight, with 202,000 miles on it the umbrella seals usually get hard and don't seal too well. My other '93 has a 350 and i changed those at 198,000 and it stopped the same problem.
