I just about fell off my chair when the father in law told me yesterday that there are no cats on diesels until 2007. The thing that gets me is he is a highly respected diesel mechanic and really knows his stuff about the big rigs and such but I am begining to wonder how much he knows about our trucks. I am not a certified diesel mechanic yet but will be soon and I know that there are cats on our trucks. Anyone got any pics I can show him? Please dont rag on his intelligence because its not needed, I highly doubt he has ever looked. As stated before he is mainly the heavy duty diesel man and takes in the occasional light duty. Thanks in advance. Pics please if you got them.

07 is the first year for "cat" type set-ups on semi's.

Heck, I had a '98 6.5 diesel and it even had a cat on it.

I knew he was right about that. But not about the light duties.

I was enquiring about cat's on my 04.5 LLY the other day at a dealer and was told the the item pictured in the previous thread was a resonator and not a cat! Blew my mind, but the guy was a "Certified GM diesel mechanic". He said 07's will have them but nothing prior. Anybody got any other thoughts? Like I say, it suprised the heck out of me.
