OK guys I've got a 01 2500HD when its cold on startup (below 50 degrees) I have a rattle it sounds like a heat shield or very tin like but goes away once it warms up I can't see anything loose.Could this be the steering shaft rattle that I've read about? Also this will be my first winter with this thing what do I have to look forward to as far as could weather, I'm thinking of installing a oil pan heater to help with the start ups at what temp do I have to worry about plugging in the block heater?

I have read about a bolt that loosens off for the turbo bracket. ???

As for the cold weather, I am looking at going with synthetic 5W40 oil. I can't plug my truck in at all. A few degrees below freezing, and I would plug it in (if I could)

Isn't there a heat shield on the back of the turbo (between turbo and firewall?)
