: Any LS1 freaks out there?
mr._bowtie 04-10-2007, 09:25 PM Just wonderin if anyone else out there was all about the LS1's? I love em! IMO Best small block out there. Ive owned 2 LS1 cars and LOVED both of them. First one was a 00 Z28 and the second was a 02 WS6 Trans Am, which is my favorite! :p: Just let me know if Im the only one here or the rest of you just need to come out of the closet and admit you have some room in your heart for gasoline too!
Reineke 04-10-2007, 09:39 PM I love my 00 Z28! :) 12.9 1/4 time!
heymccall 04-10-2007, 09:44 PM What's an LS1?
J/K had a '98 Z28 M6 before. I love 'em but the '98 used a quart of oil every 1000 miles since new. Somehow, I avoided the piston slap thing, too.

Any small block with a set of 15 degree valve angle heads that flow some air is going to run great. :D
Should be even better now that GM has finally fixed the goofy  cathedral intake ports with a much better design in the L92 and LS7 heads.
Reineke 04-10-2007, 09:56 PM BCKNBLK, what in the hell do you use to keep that thing so clean! That sucker is sharp!

Thank you!! It's da Zaino:D

I use Zaino polishes/detail sprays for the paint and Adam's products for everything else. Not only does the Zaino look great, but it is extremely durable and looks better with each coat you apply.
Reineke 04-10-2007, 10:05 PM Thanks for the tip, will definately have to do so!

David L51 04-10-2007, 10:43 PM Hell yea, I'm an LS1 freak. Just waiting till I can get my budget to match my dreams,..... and get the wife her new Camaro when they come out.
FORD-FAN7.3 04-10-2007, 10:55 PM awesome motor. in my opinion the best thing about them is that they are a hand built motor, not a mass produced engine.
Tierod 04-10-2007, 11:45 PM I like my LS1! Responds nicely to nitrous and it was easy to hide.:evillol:
My roommate Mustang was stolen, I let her drive my car until she found another one. After driving it she had to have a LS1 car. She ended up with a 98' m6 Z28.;)
Manic Mechanic 04-11-2007, 07:55 AM 1999 Firehawk Trans Am here. My brother lives with us and has a 2002 Z28.

Scotty Seelen 04-11-2007, 11:25 AM 2002 Collector Edition TA WS6 - awesome car.
My last truck, the 03' had a 98' LS1 in it before the LQ9 went it. Great engines for sure!
mr._bowtie 04-11-2007, 01:51 PM I had a feeling that I wasnt the only guy buzzin around here that liked em! I have only done minor bolt on type stuff with the two Ive had because they were daily drivers, but the T/A I know was pushing 375hp/375tq. I actually outran a LS1 vette at the drag races with it one night!!! Talk about an ego booster lol.
My last one was the more rare Sunset Orange Metalic color... Man what a car! Everyone loved that thing. I actually was one of 20 people chosen for Popular Hot Roddings nationwide photo contest they held. I got that car pictured along with the other finalists!

HMMMMM, got me thinking, what's it take to put one of these in a 2002 1500? Friend of a friend has one he wants to sell cheap, 4.8 that is toasted. It's a short bed, step side 2wd, body in good shape.
Would be a fun truck with some power:eek: or how hard would it be to put one in the 94 GMC I have with the 5.0? I got the need for speed and I want it in a 1/2 ton that is sort of a sleeper. Add a Paxton supercharger, maybe a little shot of juice.:D
05Smoker 04-12-2007, 08:03 AM I had a 98 TA M6 that I loved - 13.3's all day. Best small block I've ever owned.
Just bought my wife with a Buick Ranier with the trusty 5.3. I also owned a 6.0 before my Dmax and am going to pick up an 8.1 this weekend to put in my 78 GMC. Yes I like the LS1 motors.
Importkilla is fitting a built LS1 in an S-10 as we speak and a buddy of ours has one in a 92 RS with a turbonetics turbo on it.;)

Well it really shouldnt be all that hard to put one in either truck. Youll need to get a wiring harness and pcm that will work though. They even make kits so you can run turbo 350 & 400's with em.
If you want to make a nasty little sleeper, put a 3k-3500 stall converter behind an LS1 dribble some laughing gas to it and hang on lol. There are alot of guys that have stock or nearly stock LS1 cars that run in the high 12's!!! I think my TA would have been right there but I didnt ever get a chance to run it on a 1/4.
HMMMMM, got me thinking, what's it take to put one of these in a 2002 1500?
Very easy. Pull the engine, swap all the accessories from the 4.8 onto the (5.7 or a 6.0) and put it back in. Order a custom tuned PCM or do what I did and get a tuner (HP Tuners or EFI Live) and tune it yourself and your ready to rock and roll.
Tyrod 04-26-2007, 07:33 PM I've got a 2000 Formula (pic in garage) and 2 of my brothers have 02 WS6's. One is sunset orange and other is navy blue. I guess you could say we're fans.
