: Dump bed for pickup?
mdiesel89 04-10-2007, 07:42 PM Anybody have a dump bed for their truck? If so, how do you like it? How easy is it to take out when you are not going to use it for a long time?
I would like to get one but I will only use it a couple time per year. I thought that this would be a good alternative to getting a cheap dump truck and having another vehicle sitting around to maintain and store.
mdiesel89 04-10-2007, 07:59 PM This is the insert that I am looking at.

woodchuck2 04-11-2007, 10:04 AM These are far cheaper than another truck and work just fine, i am looking into a dump trailer myself.
2fast2 04-11-2007, 01:01 PM You can buy a dump trailer for $5-6K new that will haul 8000+ lbs and will be easier on your truck than much less weight in the bed.
If you're not going to use it often, maybe the cheapest thing to do would be to rent a dump trailer.
Just a few thoughts to consider.
Good luck,
Jim
AndrewFessler 04-11-2007, 01:07 PM I thought about an insert, but then i have a SB. So I am looking for a low profile dump trailer too. I've borrowed my neighbors a few times and it worked ok. It was the RASCAL.
I sold my 94 6.5 TD dump truck a couple years ago and was going to get a dump trailer then, but didnt and should have.
mdiesel89 04-11-2007, 07:50 PM Thanks for the input guys. The dump trailer would be a perfect solution. I didn't even know that such a thing was made. All the features that I need without the need to install anything.
Thanks
Mike
thejdman04 04-11-2007, 09:00 PM A dump trailer is nicer much nicer, and you can haul other stuff in there, fairly easiy w/ramps.
woodchuck2 04-12-2007, 11:57 AM I just found a new 78"X12' dump trailer for sale by me, 5yrd, 14k, slide in ramps, spread, split, swing tailgate, 26 tie downs, battery and spare tire mount for $5745. The wife is out of town for a couple days also, hmmmm, what to do?
AndrewFessler 04-12-2007, 12:01 PM You dont want it, its not right for you. You need something better, bigger, cheaper.
What was the address and phone number of that place again :)
Sounds like a good deal to me, go for it.
DURAMAX3500 04-12-2007, 01:28 PM get a dump trailer. that way u can hold more.
i have a dump trailer and it works great
canyon 04-12-2007, 10:03 PM Another vote for a dump trailer... No worries about scratching up a dump trailer with a loader etc, your truck is another story. Another benefit is that you can leave it at a worksite for debris etc and hitch back up when it is full.

Get the trailer, some roses and a bottle of wine. Better to ask forgiveness than permission.
Use words like safety, resale, flower beds and landscaping. Do what you have to do, but buy the trailer before the other guys here beat you to it ;)
