: Help with a super chip

I would like to increase the performance on my duramax. I don't want to do anything that would cause me problems with the injectors or turbo. I am thinking that all of the programers or chips work by increasing the fuel pressure or turbo boost. I want the safest thing possible and really only need the extra power when I am towing the camper. Thanks a lot for the help.

The Banks 6-gun is biased towards torque and smooth power, works great for towing. I'm "happiest" with it when pulling my travel trailer. No problems in 14K miles.......

duramax/a,

First off, if you want something that won't run any risk of damaging anything, don't add any modification to your truck. That is the safest thing to do.

Having said that, I am absolutely satisfied with the Edge Juice with Attitude. I don't have any experience with any other tuner, but for ease of installation, versatility, and bang for the buck, it will be hard for you to beat the Juice. If you aren't sure, just get the Juice, try it out (takes just a minute or two to install), and see how you like it. I bet most places will have a 30 day money back guarantee. My bet is, once you put it on, you won't give it back unless someone pries it from your cold, dead fingers.

baimpala...

I could not have said it any better than what you said. I pull a 14K fifth wheeler with no problems.

I agree with baimpala, Edge with Attitude seems to be the favorite modification on this and other forums.

Easy to install, easy to de-install when you take it in for service, gauges are already built in, safety monitors for your tranny and EGT's.

Most "chip" or box manufactures will highly recommend that you increase you exhaust to 4" to keep the EGT's down during towing.

Hot Rod performance during daily driving and lots of torque when towing all at a push of a button.

Side benefit is a slight increase in fuel mileage, that is as long as you can keep your foot out of it.

I have both the Predator and Juice w/ ***., and I would have to say I like the Juice better. The power seems to be a little smoother and if you go w/ the Attitude you will have the gauges you need. Now, I wouldn't say the Predator is bad, I even swtich back and forth sometimes if I get board, it has good power and is responsive... Just came in second for me.

Thanks gentlemen for the replies. So am I correct in thinking that these programs work by increasing the fuel pressures? If so I am too afraid to do it. I'm just determined not to have self inflicted injector problems. The added power would be nice, but the truck is actually pretty capable as it is. However if I ever tried one of the programs I bet that I would want it no matter what.

NO....the Edge/Juice/Attitude does NOT incresase pressure. Its all in the timing.

Do a search, there is plenty of reading available in this forum on the Edge and other boxes/programs.

Duramax/A,

Kennedy Diesel's website will explain most all of them and how they work straight at ya.

most boxes do timing and add fuel by changing the pulse width... some increase fuel pressure but that is less common these days.
