My buddy and I bought identical trucks only a few weeks apart. He bought a leftover '06 D/A and I got an '07 Classic D/A.

His '06 has a much deeper throaty sound.

I can actually hear his exhaust.

My '07 is very quiet...I can hear engine noise and the turbo whining once in a while...but no throaty exhaust.

Im jealous...anyone else experience the '06 being louder than the '07 Classic?

I had both of mine running at the dealer at the same time. THe '06 was a bit louder, but not by much.

I have an 07 classic as well. I heard that in 07 they reduced the diameter of the pipe between the header and cat to reduce the sound. Since I only have the 07 I cannot confirm.

Then just install a nice exhaust, maybe a 4" and be done with it. I love the way mine sounds. Will help with EGT's as well if you tow.

Then a straight pipe it is!
You'll love the turbo whistle, never gets old for me.
You'll need a finger stick and blocker plate too.
Have fun!
