Well they sucked my anti-freeze into a tube with my distilled water (clean and new).

Then they hooked up this suction machine to my over fill container under the hood. They started sucking the coolant out. Then he went in and started my truck up. It pumped the old coolant into the over fill container. He left my truck runnning for 3-5 minutes as the coolant slowly got sucked out. He even rev'ed it up to 1500 twice for maybe 30 seconds.

Then he pumped the new stuff back into the container and the truck sucked it into the radiator.

Is this safe to let these guys run thew truck for a few minutes with low or NO water?

P.C.

Don.t let people do this kinda chit to ya. Go to a qualified person. Diesels have low temps at Idle and it probably did not hurt at 1500 RPM. You would of known by now if it hurt the engine. The way they did it is a quickie and you did not get a good flush of your cooling system.

Why did you change it? Isn't the new orange stuff good for 5 years 150,000 miles.

With all the "sucking" and "pumping" ...I wasn't sure what I was reading there for a minute. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

The real question is it safe to let these bozo's near a good truck in the first place. The answer is no. My limited experience with Jiffy Lube is that it is infested with bozo's that have a hard time distinguishing an orfice from a hole in the ground. Running aluminum heads without water can lead to cracked heads much faster than with cast iron heads.

Sure doesn't sound like a good method... running without water in the jacket. Most likely no harm done since it was so quick. I don't flush that way.

I see you hav an '03, although admirable, IMHO I think you changed it way too soon.

I try to stay away from the "Fast Food Oil Chains" as I call them. They are under qualified, new to the industry or just plain stupid in some cases. On my 2000 Z71 they tried to tell me I needed a steering fluid flush with 10k on the odo. He stated that it smelled burned and the color was darkened, well how amny of you have gone the entire life of a vehicle without changing steering fluid. My niece is still driving the 95 Pontiac that I gave her, original steering fluid. That was the last time any one of my vehicles hit thier floors.

PC, glad they didn't hurt your engine. Don't ever take it back to Fast Food Oil Chains!

I'd lay off the big ticket cameras and pay some attention to the Max.

One thing is for sure.

The bitterness of shabby non quality work last long after the sweetness of a cheap price that is long forgotten!
