After getting 53,000 miles from my stock tires, I had my new tires (Toyo M-55, 255 85 16's, E rated) installed on Friday; pictures are in my garage . . . I love the beefier look . . . so did the garage that installed them. I had to trim just a little of the front valance; used a Dremel & it worked well (posted a picture of the trim as well). The ride is much smoother than with the stock; dealer recommended pressure is 62 in front & 78 in rear.

The full truck pictures came out pretty small on the garage, so I've attached them here . . .

I think that tire will be more stable on the stock rim than my 285/75/16 s.

Really nice lookin tires..! (Am big Toyo Fan..)

3 Questions:

Is that a toolbox-back tonneau I see in the Pic...and if so, where did you get it and at what $$.?

Also what mileage rating are on those tires ie; how many miles should you get from a set.?

thanx,

Theo

Do you track your mileage, I would like to know how it changes? Could you get a pic straight in front of your truck I'm wondering how narrow they look. Should be able to get 50K+ out of the M-55 no problem they're a good tire but not cheap.

The tonneau/toolbox is from Extang, called the cargomax . . . the tonneau lifts up & is hinged on the toolbox . . pretty slick set up. I don't remember what it costs, but it was very reasonable, compared with other straight tonneaus . .

As far as a mileage rating, there is none for the M-55, but for the price, they better last !!

I only tyrack mileage from the DIC & with the 245's it was about 18.5; since the change (about a half tank), it's gone dowm to about 17.5 . . . . kinda figured I'd lose a little, but I'd bet mostly because of the more agressive tread as opposed to the size . . . . once the tires "break in" a bit, it'll probably increase a bit . . . same thing happened with the stock tires . .

I'll try to get a straight on picture later today, but they fill the wheel well perfectly, IMO . . .

If I'm not mistaken the DIC will read lower MPG's since the truck thinks its using more fuel with lower miles put on the odometer. With 255's you are doing 65 mph while your speedometer reads 60. Thats an 8.5% difference according to people smarter than me! I must say the truck looks good and I too hope to do the same after I burn down these pizza cutters. :beerchug:
