The cat might not fit, the allson tranny too, not to mention rearend.

Yes it is possible and has been done when chevy first started putting diesels in trucks, 5.7 , Alot of small race teams (at the time) liked the idea of a diesel pickup to pull their racecars to the track, but as we all know the 5.7 wasn't the engine for that job, so some found small cat engines and shoehorned them in there. DOn't know which engines they used or how much it cost them. But LIke I said and the many mod hooked diesel warriors on this site has proven ANYTHING is possible

If you were going to swap in another powerplant, I'd be looking for a 4BT(3.9L) Cummins, used in tons of Gen-sets. most have Stanadyne DB4 pumps, and this engine will be small enough to give you room for tranny options, but it packs plenty of power too.

my college roommate's neighbor has an old 80's chevy with a cat in it. i think it is a 3208. he says it doesn't have as much power has his powerstroke though. he could be full of bull. dont know.

3.9L cummins, how does it compare with the 5.9 cummins,,,power and sound???

if i was gonna put a motor in my truck i think i would do one that nobody ever talks about, the old DT466.
