I got an 82 K5 with the turn signals on the bumper. Im planning to get some CUCV bumpers soon and they don't have a spot for the turn signals and would like to relocate mine into the grill like the 83-87s had. Is there anything I need other than the turn signals obviously or will I need the grill section too.

As I recall the turn signals are actually part of the grille so yes, you will need the later grille.
On a side note you could also go for a grille off of a late model ('90 or so) Suburban... Some people like that style grille better. Personally, my favorite grille is probably the '83. I never cared for the grille style that came with my truck... I never liked the three big squares. That's why I painted the middle bar in... ):h

I'm going to go down the the wrecking yard and see if I can find a 89-91 grill I like that style but its hard to say what I will find. Well what ever option I choose for a bumper I will have to relocate the turn signals. I'm considering building a tube bumper for the front to give full front end protection when Im wheeling so I could mount them on the bumper by making some brackets.

Ive done the 89-91 swap... there is a little more then just the plastic grill parts.
you will need the radiator support, the plastic grill pieces, the wireing harness for the lights, and the lights.
good luck!

On Colorado K5 they have a section for tech articles and they have the 89-91 grille swap and its fairly easy once you get all the parts.

yea, your best bet will be finding a truck in the junkyard to pull parts from. I got all the parts I needed and a clean hood for $150. which to me seemed like a deal.
the best thing about that front end is the lights seem to be a lot brighter at night then my old big square lights I had before I did the swap.
You know the cheapest solution would be to just get some amber trailer lights and put them behind your grill.

or, go to your local trailer shop and get the oval LED marker/turn signal lights.
When you get your CUCV bumper, you will have a spot where the blackout lights normally are. Just mark, and take a sawzall to it to make them the right size.
I have a cucv, and have the blackout lights because they are stock equipment. IR lights eventually.
