: Predator version?
Jim659 09-19-2004, 01:22 AM I just got my Predator in the mail and can't find listed anywhere the version number. I also have a VA 110/230 installed already and wonder if I can stack the predator without removing the VA. The box says for 01-03 did I get an old model and if I did should I send it back?
Thanks,jim659
motovet 09-19-2004, 02:05 AM The version number will come up on screen when you plug it in. You can go stock tune with the Pred. to take advantage of the tire size and speed limiter adjustment.
Jim659 09-19-2004, 02:13 AM Can the version number be upgaded?
WanaDmxsub 09-19-2004, 02:19 AM Can the version number be upgaded?
Yes, but you will have to send it back to them. Last version that I know of is 1.11.
Jim659 09-19-2004, 02:35 AM I see that on the dpps web site the predator has a 120hp setting. This one only goes up to 100hp. It just seems like I paid for a new style programmer (I thought) and got an old leftover model. What would you guys do, keep it or send it back?
Kennedy 09-19-2004, 11:27 AM IIRC, the 1.10 already had 120HP file on it...
1.11 definitely has 120hp tune and 110mph spd limiter increase.
On edit- I did notice when I bought that the best prices shown on the net were indeed for the older versions left in vendors' stock. It pays to call and verify unless they clearly specify 1.11. The 1.10 did have the 120 tune but had some issues resolved in 1.11 .

WanaDmxsub 09-19-2004, 02:57 PM If you load the 120 tune you will need to add a zero to the cost of the predator and get your tranni upgraded.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
After limping mine in the 120 tune I'm back to the next lower one (85 or 90 don't remember) and have run it hard with no limps.
My speed limiter is set at 120. v1.11

While I'm sure it's true, it makes no sense unless a vendor is flat out lazy. Diablo took care of my 1.10 units no questions asked.
Jim659 09-19-2004, 03:32 PM The instructions on this one say 100HP extreme performance as the highest tune. I don't want to plug it in to see the version because I don't want it married to the truck. Or can I without a problem?
Elowe65 09-19-2004, 04:42 PM Just got mine 3 weeks ago from summit. ver 1.11, has 120 tune. The manual did only list up to 100 tune so it looks like they are using the same manual. You will need to check the unit itself for what version it is. Dont rely on the manual.
Jim659 09-19-2004, 06:52 PM One more question, can I install the predator over my VA or do I have to remove the VA first/
WanaDmxSub- "My speed limiter is set at 120. v1.11" How you do dat? Max on my 1.11 LB7 Pred is 110 mph. What am I gonna do if I need to sustain more than 110 on the local streets?
The old versions I saw, and they included pre-1.10's, were found in a price-comparison search I did. A lot of those vendors are not big-name diesel places. I guess it's easier for them to prey on the uninformed buyer than trade out the stock. I wonder what the cost to a buyer is for an upgrade. Jim659- You call them and check?
steve stiller 09-23-2004, 11:03 PM have verison 1.11 and my max speed limit is 125mph on a 04 lb7. at the 95 mph mark its backs down then takes off again in which it sucks in the quarter mile timeshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
hdd-max 09-23-2004, 11:36 PM I too have a predator v1.10 and an 03 truck speed limiter on mine is 125 and doesnt cut out at 95 pulls hard right on through.
Scotty Seelen 09-24-2004, 04:43 PM Predator raises the limiter on the 2001's to 110mph and 2002's and newer to 125mph.
Again, what's the deal with the 2001's?
It makes NO SENSE to me why they can raise it MORE on the 2002 and later models.
Other programmers don't raise the limiter AT ALL on the 2001's, but will on the newer models.
Must be some deep dark secret inside the 2001's computer we just aren't supposed to know............http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif
Thx, Scotty. Only the '01 can't go fast. Story of my life. Actually, in my case of limited self control, probably for the best. Was just about to do a tiny little blast tonight on way home, through my own little neighborhood back street, when I (fortunately) saw the two bike cops turn into the far end of the street. How pissed would they have been if they got damn near blown off their rides and soot-clouded to boot? I figure if I ever get the ticket that says 110mph, I can just document the factory speed-limiting at 96 and prove the ticket erroneous. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif I get so tired of cruising around this town like Grandpa Safe&Sane.
Jim659 09-26-2004, 12:26 AM When trying to install my predator it will not load. Does this mean I have to remove my VA first and then install the predator or could it be the Onstar?
GMC2500HD 09-26-2004, 01:27 AM You need to make sure you remove all the fuses that it tells you to and also make sure you turn off all the lights, even the DRL's.. They will come on when you are trying to install the programmer. Good luck
Jim659 09-26-2004, 01:48 PM The VA can stay in? DRLs shut off with the parking brake?
