I have a 1972 GMC 3/4 ton pickup with a 4 speed manual trany that I'm puting my 85 6.2L in and I know the bellhousing will bolt up but I was woundering if any one knows if the 6.2L flywheel/clutch assembly would work with it? (the 85 donor truck had a 700R4 trany so dont have parts to check) Do I have to worry about input shaft spline count? Would that it being a manual clutch and not a hydraulic clutch in the truck be a concern? Also does anyone know any info on the 4 speeds that were in the 3/4 tons in the 72 era? Any information is apreciated. ThanksEdited by: project 6.2L

The bell housing will bolt up, but the nose of the 6.2's starter might not fit through the bell housing. I found that out and had to go buy a diesel bell housing. You'll have to go with a pre 95 diesel bell housing. 95 and later have different bolt patterns where the tranny bolts up
The spline count on the diesel and gas clutch are the same.
