: Banks-trans slip?
RJWesleyIII 04-06-2007, 11:35 PM had my banks with pda now for a few days, and I noticed when cruzing down the freeway at 65 or so, my tans slip meter always is fluctuating between 8 and 18 or so. and goes up to 400ish when I accelerate. when I am on the city streets it stays at 0, even when I get on it hard. It does this in every level. when my tranny goes into 5 or 6 is seems to start reading low numbers in city driving, even when I let of the gas and coast. is my tranny really slipping, or is something wrong with the tuner? It went to 1700 yesterday. Anybody else see this? no codes or check engine lights either.:wtf1: It seems to have real good power, and doesn't feel like it is slipping. thanks
CRASHNBURN 04-07-2007, 12:20 AM Bob,
Mine does the same thing. Normally is should stay below 30. That is just noise as banks calls it. If it goes over 100 costant when the torque convert is locked then you are in trouble. I get the 1700 glitch too for a split second. You are fine.
RJWesleyIII 04-07-2007, 08:52 AM thanks, I'm wiping the sweat from my head now! :)
CRASHNBURN 04-07-2007, 10:23 AM I was so there too. :)
Papuller86 04-07-2007, 09:51 PM does it make a funny noise when it does (i dont have the PDA so i dont have the opition or see if its slipping) becouse the other day i was driving around had it in 6 and it started to make a noise like something vibrating and i no it was the tranny becouse it only happened 2 or 3 times when i gave it gas and i cant figure out y it did this

no didn't hear any noise. just seen the numbers jump around on the pda

Same here.
66chevy 04-09-2007, 01:30 PM on level 5 , i've seen it go as high as 2100. you must remember that ALL trannys slip, wether new or old or manual or automatic. if it would not slip a little when you get on it, the engine would lug down, thats a fact.
RaceHemi 04-09-2007, 03:16 PM Unless your torque converter is locked it's meaningless.
66chevy 04-09-2007, 03:58 PM that too
RJWesleyIII 04-09-2007, 05:06 PM thanks guys, good to know:D
07LBZINPA 04-09-2007, 08:30 PM To avoid limping should you puut shifter in t/h, or manual and keep in certain range, or can you run it in "drive" and not worry. Whats the deal, where do you keep her if you are gonna run it
RJWesleyIII 04-09-2007, 09:16 PM I put my added fuel for 5th gear at 60% and 6th gear at 40%. Hopefully mine won't limp anytime soon. and also leave the shifting between gears at 60%.
Fitter48093 04-09-2007, 09:17 PM I've used mine in drive and t/h, No problems so far in either.
CRASHNBURN 04-09-2007, 09:59 PM Avoid getting on it hard (wot) in the 5/6 & 6/5gear switch. 1,2,3 you can run pretty hard.
07LBZINPA 04-11-2007, 08:45 PM So the torq conv is locked up in 5th and 6th? the other gears allow slippage by design?
Twister773 04-11-2007, 08:55 PM i dont want to stir up a big conversation about how black smoke is bad but is it possible to make the banks with pda smoke a good amount or no... like edge juice/w *** good?
Fitter48093 04-11-2007, 09:29 PM You can get good smoke by turning up the acc. pump. Haven't tried it myself, But most say it fixes the crave to smoke! Good luck

nothing like the edge on 6. barely a little puff, with acc pump on 200.
CRASHNBURN 04-11-2007, 10:41 PM You can get smoke from the six gun, when you turn up the acc. pump, but no way is the smoke close to the hot juice. Remember Banks does not want the smoke. They designed it that way for a reason. Two totally different companies & designs. I think they both make quality products & design in safety feature for us guys that have stock trannies & the for the guys with the built ones.
Twister773 04-11-2007, 11:13 PM yea i hear ya, thanks
