I’m leaving on a trip on Tuesday and need some help
I’ve had a thread regarding a high pitch sound that I think is my turbo, I’ve gotten responses telling me it’s normal, don’t worry about it. It just doesn’t sound right. I know diesel’s make noise but I get this vacuum/ high pitch noise varying in pitch from dead stop up to cruising speed. Being new to diesels I have learnt a lot reading this forum. I included a picture that I think is my turbo, I see some oil seeping from the steel center insert, Can anyone enlighten me if this is normal?

Oil anywhere other than on the dipstick is not normal.

I agree, i think you may want to swing by and have it looked at.

I'm dropping off my truck on Monday at the dealer we'll see what they have to say. Can anyone tell me what this is, is it part of the turbo? should there be oil in that area of the engine?

Good choice, take it and have it checked, like I said before, oil anywhere is bad and should be checked/fixed ASAP before add anymore problems that would casue more money and time to fix.

Pic is too small to tell what that is (for me).

I would not drive it with it leaking though.

Here is a bigger photo, The leak is very little, but I agree should not see any leak, So can you tell me what this is? and what it does?
