I have 2002 It has a transgo kit, and ATS triple lock converter. It seems like it gos into the rev limter when shifting 2nd to 3rd. Anybody else have this problem or heard of it. I run a VA 200+.

First of all welcome to the forum. Second you should attend the Get Together coming up next weekend in Cornwall.

Were just a bunch of nuts having a good Time see some trucks and meet a real friendly group of people. Here's the link to the GTG.

A few have complained of what your describing with the big VA.I do believe some have raised the Rev limiter via another programmer and have had the shift clean up some.

Where abouts in CT are you ,have you been to Ted Jannetty's ? Do you have duals on your truck by any chance?

Same problem here with the Hot Juice and Attitude. The defuel last from half a second to a second on WOT. I bought Quad's base tuner to solve this for me and possibly some of my friends but it doesn't seem to work yet on my truck and 2 others.

Joe at Suncoast told me he was working on some tighter converters to help with that.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm from Southbury. And yes my truck has duals on it. What options are there to raise the rev limter? I was thinking of the excellerator programer. The hot one says it will raise the rev limter to 4000 rpm. But I've heard good and bad about it.

If you make it on Saturday, I have something you can try........http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif,

It may or may not fix the problem.............

Hope to see you.......

The thing that I see when running a snapshot is the RPM's keep climbing to 3500 and sometimes more. Brandon's truck snaps the shifts off at about 3000 (Escalade tach) like clockwork.

My truck will pause (long and hard) with the Juice at the same point, but the VA keeps pulling the RPM's up.

I tried the Quad 215/HJAT stack also, and never made a clean pass...

I believe the solution lies in the converter. Just try running it unlocked once...

That's part of what I think but I tought that the problem was the lack of "torque conversion" of the TC wich made the tranny trail behind the engine at a given RPM. Doing a run with the TC unlocked would still highlight that same problem. Maybe I don't understand what you're saying?

As I enter 2nd gear, I see RPM increasing slightly with ground speed. The slip speed increases first, then decreases very slowly. When we see 875 RPM of speed difference at 3,000 RPM it's pretty obvious things aren't happy.

Once the converter is in and locked, the 3-4 shift and beyond work well...

Suffice to say, parts are being consumed in testing:

No this is not mine.

Basically, what is being tested is a torque converter that couples more tightly in upper RPMs so the TCC can apply more cleanly, and the input shaft speed more closely matches the output shaft speeds. This way the output shaft can reach the shift speed before we hit the RPM limit.

Also looking at taming the VA around the shift just a bit. The current file will still be available also.

OMG!

My VA only hesitates slightly on the 4-5 shift. As my trans is slightly different design than a Scoast or ATS i am reluctant to say anything else. Although i do know the stall of my convertor is quite low, and is only dropping appx 150 rpms between fluid coupling and locked on shifts.

Thanks for the help. We've been trying different programs to see if we could get it better. So far no luck but we have a couple of new ones to try. I'll keep you posted.

The big VA shifts fine on my truck with an ATS converter in T/H mode.
