I called Nick at NorCal a few days after seeing 426rider's and his out-laws rigs, and wouldn't you guess it, my Cognito 4" lift kit arrived today!! I also got my wheels and tires on order – should be here some time next week. I will install the kit in two weeks just in time for my B-day! HAPPY B-DAY TO ME! This will be my first lift installation, so this will be a good test of how "easy" this kit is to install for an amateur.
BTW this is my first post. I’ve been lurking around this forum for about a year learning tons of great stuff (and of course thank to everyone!) so I though t it was time I shared some info. Don’t recall if anyone has installed this kit in their garage yet, so maybe I can provide some insight. I will post the low-down on the install and of course some pics in a about 2 weeks.

good luck with the install and congrats. I installed a 4'' rancho on my 02 chevy silverado but it was a 1500. Was pretty straight foward. Cant wait to see how it turns out( because im doing the same thing this summer):D

I am in the final stages of installing this lift. Just some last minute torques and mounting the duel fox shocks. Took me all week but I spent allot of time cleaning and painting. I even took the rear-end out from under the truck and painted it. I will say that cognitos directions suck for a guy who has never seen this lift in person. There are a lot of steps that install parts that get in the way of installing other parts. I opted to read and figure out what they wanted and what might be easier to do first and it seemed to make more sense doing it in my order. Also Norcal nicks install threads have allot of pics that bring to light how things look assembled that the cognito directions lack. Feel free to pm me if you need any info. I took lots of pictures and will post a write up from the garage first time installer mind set sometime Saturday or Sunday. Good luck and be careful. Have fun with them brake caliber bolts.:D

Thanks Nick, So far I love it. Can't wait to get it off the Jack Stands today and install the new Toyo 295/70/17 M/Ts on American Racing Trax 8's (Thanks 426 you made my wheel choice easy) All I can say so far is WOW this kit is built tough and the steering upgrades look stout!:D

Griz,
Thanks for the tips! I look forward to reading your write up on the install. Man I almost gave myself an ulser trying to decide on the tire/wheel combo (driving the wife crazy too!). Finally, I just pulled the trigger. I hope I made the right choice cause I didn't go with my initial gut feel and get the 295's. I think both the 295s and the 33 12.50s look great, but I am curious why you decided to go 295s? Does it have anything to do with how far the tire stuck out? That is my biggest concern and I know my decision contridicts it. Now would be the time for me to change my mind. I'm new to all this, so my stress level is high on getting it right.:o:
Thanks

I went with the 295 because it has a 3800lb load capacity and is an E rated 80psi tire for towing my heavy arse 5er. It is the only 33" Toyo with that much load rateing. I did want 35" tires but did not want to suck the life out of the Dmaz towing.

Right-on, function before form. My hauler is a toy compared to yours so I didn't even consider the rating - I'll double check anyway.
Thanks!

I just drove it to the Alignment shop. Man what a difference over stock. I squared the front end up to the the curb in front of my house and bounced it up and over and backed off of it and let it exercise the front end. Boy is it firmed up over stock. Then I found level ground and adjusted the torsion bars. I repeated this until I had 44" measuring from the ground through center of wheel cap to the fender on all 4 fenders. With 10psi in my rear air bags it lifts the rear about 3/4". So I think the front end is running around 5". It sits level and I have about an inch before the upper bump stop. I am so dang happy. The lift is exactly what I visioned it to look like. It don't get any better for me. Now I need to go get my 5er and she how she pulls. I will start a new thread and upload all my pics soon.:D
