Anybody running 37's with 4.56 gears? Did you get better mileage after you regeared? Is your speedo correct? And did you get an ABS light? I am going to regear and am curious as to what I am in for.

i didnt notice anything on gas mileage. speedo was incorrect. abs did go off all the time. used a bullydog powerpup, set tires to 30.5" and no more abs and speedo is right on. i believe ppe programmer has regearing tunes. bullydog thinks 3.73gears so 30.5" sets it correct. its a nice upgrade and i feel necissary it keeps the big rubber moving correctly and not stressing the drivetrain.

i have 37 and 4.56 love it truck almost feels like when i first got it again i think i am running a little high of a RPM at 70 but it doesn't really hurt my mileage but if you are going to go above 35's then i would definitely say regear

got 2 mpg back and I run the hot+2 and you can change gear ratio and tire size with no abs light.

So if I have the Edge w/attitude I should be able to change the tire size and get rid of the abs and correct my speedo?

tie6044, the Edge Juice w/ Attitude will only display the correct speed on the monitor itself, as far as your truck is concerned it still has 37" tires, so your speedo will be off, and your ABS light will remain. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I am in the process of doing this right now, I am having someone use EFI Live to program the computer for the tires and gears, as far as I know thats the only proven way to do it. I have a flashpaq right now and as I understand it while it will correct the speedo it will not resolve the ABS light issue.

i think the superlift true speed will fix it but no one has confirmed that yet

I talked to a friend of mine who owns a 4x4 shop last night and he said I need to take it to a dealer and have them change it with a Tech II, if I can find one who knows what variables to set.

good luck with that one most dealers are just incompetent when it comes to stuff like that

I would like to know how this all works out. I am doing a SFA and I got a free set of 4:88 but 4:56 might find their way in. I think the 4:88 might be a little much for 37.

ya the 4:56 is a better choice for the gears if you were going to run 40" tires then i would say that they would be fine but not for 37" and if you are going to get a axle built your still going to have a problem with your abs

Well I picked up the truck last night after getting the 4.56s installed. Great decision, glad I had it done. As expected, about 1-2 miles down the road the warning chimes and the ABS/brake lights go on and a "service brake system" message on the screen. I guess if I can't solve it with the Edge I'll have to try and find a stealer with some knowledge (ya I know, GOOD LUCK!). Unless there is anyone in the Minneapolis area with the right equipment who can help me out :(

Has anyone tried a predator? I just got mine and it lets you change wheel, tire, and gear ratio sizes. Plus everything else you can do with it, I found it to be money well spent.

Wow I haven't regeared but running 36"s and haven't had any abs issues. I guess its a hit and miss situation. I did get my speedo within about 1mph of my edge. Might work for some and not others.

Just running bigger tires usually won't throw a code, I never had any issues until I did the gears. Bigger tires just slow everything down but when you do gears the computer sees something that is no longer in sync and throws a light.

ya when i had 35" i didn't have any problems but when you do gears and tires the computer sees one speed at the tail shaft and another at the front wheels and doesn't like it very much i have tried all different tire sizes and can't find one that the computer likes so i think EFI live is the only real way to go unless some one want to try that superlift true speed and see if that works

just looked on superlifts website and they have a abs module that just corrects this problem i may be going that direction

I still think the predator would do the trick. You tell the computer what size tires you had stock, what size tires you have currently and what gear ratio you have and it figures it out for you. If I had my gears done I could give a def if it works. :D

Can EFI correct more than one truck or can it only do one at a time?

jdugie123
04-24-2007, 04:28 PM
when you first get it it can do two trucks but after that it is like a 100 bucks for each vin

how much are you all paying for gears and install?

Coles_D/A

I paid just over a grand for gears and install.... but I had to take out the carrier and the front differential.

Wow,im kinda glad I didnt regear my truck,I dont need any ABS problems,it runs Great the way it is

dmax07
04-24-2007, 11:41 PM
I don't think it affects performance at all is just the warning lights on all the time I have both of my trucks geared 4:56 and I have not had any problems other than the lights on bugging me.

tie6044
04-25-2007, 08:55 AM
Re-gearing my truck was a great choice in my opinion, I get better mileage and it tows great now. Plus it is less stress on the tranny. The ABS light is just a minor inconvenience that I will get taken care of.

ya i think my truck drives better with the 37" and 4.56 gears then it did when i had 35" tires
