my coolant temp gauge on my 4.5 lly starts at 75 C (167 f) but the needle always sits above this, even when the engine is cold. does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix or recalibrate the guage?

My 2005 LLY temp gauge reads the same way, slightly over 75C when cold. I also see that the thermostat doesn't seem to open until close to 100C, my guess is that the guage is reading a bit high. I don't know if it can be calibrated or not.

Well at least I know I'm not alone.
