: Painted Flares & Handles Installed
Steve Cornell 09-17-2004, 05:45 PM I got my painted flares and handles installed today http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif and a few other goodies.
The handles are from a 2004 Silverado SS and the flares were purchased on e-bay and painted, I'll be putting a web site together in a few days with the part numbers and details.
Here are a couple pictures until I get the site up and running.

Max Power 09-17-2004, 06:44 PM Looks good! I have the escalade handles. Sometimes I wish I would have painted the whole thing like you did.
TheBac 09-17-2004, 09:34 PM Steve,
I was wondering what a Victory Red truck would look like with painted flares and handles!
That truck looks sharp! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif Congrats!

BlueOx03 09-18-2004, 09:08 AM Steve check out Trick's red dually on page 43 of the rides thread, his lower grille is painted, that'd make for a nice finishing touch to your truck, if you like it that is....

Steve Cornell 09-18-2004, 09:21 AM Dennis,
If I had the standard mirrors I would paint the insert but since I have the camper mirrors there is really no place to "break" the paint and you would have to paint the complete mirrors and with the abuse the mirrors take from bugs I'm going to leave them black.
There sure are a bunch of Impala SS owners on this site, just go to show that folks of good taste seem to make the same decisions LOL http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Check out mine on my web site http://www.rtol.net/scornell/
baimpala 09-18-2004, 10:25 AM Steve,
You're right. . . I see you're a woodworker also. . . same here.
Nice Impala.

wzqlbgk 09-18-2004, 01:44 PM Steve,
Did you have the black plastic fender flares and then just got some off of ebay? Do you know if the factory black ones can be sanded down and painted red? I want to do the same as you. Great looking truck!!

Steve Cornell 09-19-2004, 09:35 AM Kevin,
Yes, my truck came with the black fender flares, I'm sure they could be painted but it would be much more work and the finished result may not be as good, you can get the painted on e-bay for $150, It cost me $80 to get them painted.
Here's before and after pics, it was pouring the rain in the "after" pics, I'll get some better ones later when I get it cleaned up again.

Much better with the painted flairs! Not that it didn't look good with the black but it gives it a more sophisticated and cleaner look.

Max Power 09-19-2004, 07:10 PM I agree with hoot. Why GM sells these trucks with black flairs is beyond me.
