Trailer Life magazine ( October 2004 ) has a photo of the 2006 GMC front end. The photo shows a 1500 I believe but this grill is LARGE. Looks good IMO. The increased air flow would certainly help keep these trucks cool.

I just noticed that too.. I just saw the pics. I like it but I think when you have something that is working just fine, leave it alone.... No need to improve on perfection...

I like the 2004 gmc front end. The 2006 is ugly and looks like its all made of plastic. I wonder what would happen in a accident if you hit somone?

Headlights have a dakota look, I've always liked the dakota. As a whole, that frontend is fugly!

Chrome the gille bars and put an oval in there and ya got a Super Duty...

Looks like the headlights from the old S-10. They need to clean house in the truck design deptartment if you ask me. The Chrysler 300 has a more aggressive look. If they gave them a little more overall height it would do wonders.

In a word, YUCK! Looks like the Dodge Durango front end. What is GM thinking, their current grill looks great! JJ's .02 cents worth. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Edited by: JJs DuMax

Looks too much like a Furd. Still Better than the ugly azz Dodges. I like the GMC grills of the past few years.

I will be keeping my 04 as long as possible. Till GM gets it better than what we see in that picture.

JJ, I think you're right. Take the Durango center grill out, flip it top to bottom, take the crosshairs out of it, and put a GMC logo in, viola.

Looks like a big ole fish with it's mouth gapin' open. I used to think GMCs were beautiful too. . . .

Chrysler needs transmissions, not Balls. All around.

Be interesting (or maybe not) in 7-8 more years (when I hope to replace mine) what things will look like. If the current trend continues, I have no clue what I would buy. Don't like the Rams. F#&d..... well, what needs saying? GM stuff is gettin kinda.... well don't really know how to describe it. Unlikable?

Part of it is we're getting old. We don't like to give up what we grew up with in some respects. Especially styling wise. I think we miss the old 70's Ford, Dodge and GM truck styling.

Hoot, sorry for the confusion. I wasn't referring to the new Durango grille, but the one they have used for the past few years. GM's 2006 grille looks very similar.

HHHHMMMMMMM?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif Dodge changes the Durango grille, has a bunch of ole ones they can't use???? Maybe GM acquired them from Dodge and is going to use them on the 2006 trucks to save 10 bucks per truck? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Nah, GM wouldn't do that, would they? I sure hope that new design is just a prototype, it'd be unfortunate to go from what the GMC has now to that. I'd also like to see it from a different angle.

Keep fingers crossed it's just a thought and not actually the grille.. IMO

Good Grief...Forget the frontend stuff, How about this bit of tech info

You can expect the pickups to get things such as an engine that shuts off at stoplights, electrically assisted acceleration, and Displacement-on-Demand, a system that allows the engine to run on fewer cylinders while cruising.

An engine that shuts off at stoplights...OMG...Bawahahahahahahaha. I can hardly wait for that to fail...All these trucks stuck at intersections.....Why O why do they keep making these things so complex. Just leave them alone. Refine and polish, work the bugs out. They barely get them to the point where they are functioning as planned then they change up and start over. This auto market is something else.

BTW...I kind of like the new front end. It is not to bad...Either way I still think the '01 Chevrolet HD or the '03 GMC were the best front ends to date....I also think the '04 Chevrolet front ends are Ugly with a big U

I haven't seen the whole hood but the inner we are making for the 06 isn't like the one pictured but they are redoing the SUVs first.

The HD may have a different hood.

We are building both of the hood inners for GM trucks.
