Waaaay to technical to be messing with yet. The tubes and sensor you refer to have to do with pressures. The new LMM has over 4 times the computer power of previous DuraMax's.

I would tell your dad to hold on for a couple more months. I know it will be hard to do as I am the same way with my vehicles.

i would also suggest waiting. mbrp is in the progress on making theres. all the new kits will be dpf back systems, offered in 4" and 5" with muffler deletes. so i think the loudest systems to start will be 5" with no muffler.

Pull it off and straight pipe it. It'll be fine. :D

if you really want to do something now you could get a pipe to replace the muffler, but as you will see the stock muffler isnt that big, the dpf does most of the work to muffle the sound.

and like mbrp was stating the piping from the turbo to the dpf is larger than on the older trucks, believe it is 4" and has good mandrel bends on it so there is no reason to replace it.
