Hi,

As I mentioned in my first poll, I'm also interested in what can be done to prevent pump and/or FSD damage.

Over here in Belgium, they charged a friend of mine about €5000 (6000$) for replacing a broken pump.

If you think driving habbits can help save the pump, please let me know. I know over here we drive a lot faster. My friend's Burb was almost always driven to the redline of 3500 rpm.

Thanks for the input,

Blackmore

For DS-4 longevitey, keep water out of your fuel. You can Add two more 20-30 micron filters/water seperators for less than a pump.

The best solution for FSD survival is to acquire a backup unit and keep it handy. IF your's is on the pump it might be easier to leave it till it dies and install the replacement infront of the radiator on a remote extension. Low calibration resistors put less stress on the driver vs. #9 resistor for performance.

Fuel additives to increase the lubricity of the fuel is also a shot in the arm for the pumps. Don't know what you have over there, but the low-sulfur fuels is what is over here. Some type of additive to help out will extend pump life.
